CERTIFICATION SPECIALIST – PROCESSING  (Posted March 2008)

We’re looking for an individual to “hold” day-to-day maintenance of our processor/handler certification program, with assistance from others on the certification team. Primary responsibilities include evaluating organic plan information for compliance with the National Organic Standards, customer service for new and updating organic processors/handlers, and communication with organic operators about certification requirements.

The ideal candidate will have formal education, training and experience in food processing, organic principles, and interpreting regulations. We also desire excellent communication skills, including emotional intelligence, strong computer skills, ability to do detail-oriented work in a fast paced environment, and willingness to travel several times per year for meetings, conferences, and training opportunities.

This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary is highly competitive for a non-profit organization. We offer a friendly work environment with flexible scheduling. We value balancing self-care with challenging work, open communication, and commitment to a job well-done. Interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter to MOSA at 122 W. Jefferson St., PO Box 821, Viroqua WI 54665; 608-637-2526; mosa@mosaorganic.org.

Viroqua, located in the rural, “driftless” (unglaciated) region of SW Wisconsin, is a thriving small town with a strong progressive community. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
